Motion Calibrator is a calibration app for motion analysis. It supports calibration with the 2D and 3D direct linear transformation (DLT) methods and the reconstruction of coordinates. It also supports lens distortion correction, comparing accuracy with and without correction to recommend the optimal calculation method. With the 2D DLT method, even when calibration points cannot be placed on the analysis plane, the app draws on computer vision techniques to reconstruct coordinates on that plane from calibration points placed around it.
3 次元 DLT(11 パラメータ)と、分析平面を指定した 2 次元 DLT(8 パラメータ)。
レンズのゆがみ補正つき DLT(12・14・16 パラメータ)。
Create a calibration by importing control-point coordinates from a text or CSV file, or by typing them into a table (units: mm, cm, or m). Imported coordinates can be edited in the table
Import calibration videos and digitize control points in the app (frame stepping, zoom, Apple Pencil loupe, predicted positions, reprojection errors, excluding points, multi-select)
Slow-motion videos are read from the original recording with evenly spaced frames, without the speed ramp
Without video, import digitized coordinates per camera (CSV or Motion Digitizer ASCII) and compute DLT directly
3D DLT (11 parameters) and 2D DLT (8 parameters) on a chosen analysis plane. 2D DLT for any plane can be derived from the 3D DLT, so no control points are needed on that plane
DLT with lens distortion correction (12, 14, or 16 parameters). Leave-one-out validation recommends the best model
Automatically falls back to 2D DLT when 3D cannot be solved (fewer than 6 points, or nearly coplanar points)
Floor-mark method: estimates focal length and camera pose from points on a single horizontal plane to build a 2D DLT (with accuracy caveats)
Reprojection error per camera; 3D reconstruction error with two or more cameras (RMS and maximum per axis, every camera combination, leave-one-out validation, per-point list)
3D view: camera positions and orientations derived from the DLT, with control points color-coded by error
For 2D: in-plane error (mean ± SD, RMS, maximum) and a plan view with magnified error vectors
Import Motion Digitizer .dtzj files or per-camera ASCII files, reconstruct 3D coordinates with this calibration's DLTs, and export in Motion Digitizer-compatible formats
3D stick-figure animation with playback, frame stepping, and speed control
Compute scale and axes from two horizontal scale bars placed in front of and behind the analysis plane (4 points), or a single bar on the plane (2 points), and convert digitized motion coordinates to meters
Supports panning shots (automatically detects when the camera moves on to the next marker)
2D animation and export of X, Y for each point
DLT parameter files readable by Motion Digitizer (per camera, 3D or 2D, including distortion-corrected)
Digitized coordinates as CSV, 3D coordinates, and scale-converted coordinates
Calibration file (.mcal) bundling control points, digitized data, settings, and video references. Videos are located and relinked automatically when reopened
Automatic in-app saving
iPadOS 18 or later and macOS 15 or later (universal purchase)
Switchable Japanese and English interface
No sign-in, no network access; all data stays on the device
Subscription (monthly or yearly, 7-day free trial) unlocks export of calibration files, DLT parameters, and coordinates. Export of single-camera 2D DLT and scale conversion is free
